Viagra: The solution to the ED problems

Erectile dysfunction is common in today’s world. According to a study by Cleveland Clinic, USA one out of every four men above the age of 40 suffer from erectile dysfunction. This means the problem of erectile dysfunction is not as rare as it might seem to some. In fact, the numbers are on the rise. Even then people have the notion that hiding the fact that one has erectile dysfunction is in their best interest. This is not so, as it can worsen the condition even further. It has been often seen that erectile dysfunction is the underlying symptom of many cardiac and neural ailments. Truth is, every man has had the difficulty in gaining an erection at least once in his life. These are not a source of worry. However when the frequency increases, it might be source of worry.

As such let us define erectile dysfunction. Erectile dysfunction is the inability to gain or maintain an erection firm enough for intercourse.

With time though, there have been many medications that are developed to help a person gain an erection. Viagra is one of them. Let us see more in detail.

Overview

The concept of ED medications was not even thought of in the yesteryears. Having ED meant the end of one’s manhood. This meant that the people would often hide it. This resulted in the emergence of ED pills. Viagra is one such revolutionary ED pill. It was originally developed as the cure for high blood pressure and angina (a chest pain associated with heart ailments)
Originally firm and longer than usual erections were considered as a side effect from the ingestion of these pills. However, it was found that the medication was more suited for the treatment of ED rather than the treatment of high blood pressure. The medication has Sildenafil Citrate as its active compound, which is a PDE5 inhibitor.

PDE5 inhibitors help in the relaxation of the blood vessels in the muscles of the male genitals. This relaxation allows the blood in the vicinity to gush in and make the muscles swell up resulting in the erection of the genitals.
